Filming at the Wales Public Health Conference November 2015

Recently, Farsight helped out at the Welsh Public Health Conference at the SWALEC stadium in Cardiff.

Held over two days, we were responsible for capturing key moments of the event and filming interviews with key speakers as well as editing together a 'highlights' package at the end of each day.

If you've ever had to edit to a strict deadline, you will know that it can be fraught with headaches:  computers crashing, footage compatibility issues, noticing mistakes at the last minute etc.

Whilst some of those problems did rear their ugly heads, thankfully none of them were enough to bring the whole operation down and we were able to deliver a package to the events team just in time for it to be shown (why are these things always so close??) up on the big screen. Phew!

Editing was completed in Adobe Premiere Pro on an Apple iMac with a MacBook Pro as back up. Filming was conducted on a SONY HVR-Z7E, Canon 700D and Canon 70D.

Thanks to all of the Public Health Wales team for their support in particular Chris, Will, Natasha and Rebecca. Also, thanks to Ed the amazing production assistant for doing a fab job!

Test GoPro footage - bike ride through Cardiff

Here are a couple of videos put together after a test run doing some filming using the GoPro Hero 4 action camera. The camera was strapped on to the chest while riding a bike through Cardiff (from Roath to the City Centre).

New video from Uganda

There is still quite a lot of footage left over from the filming I did in Uganda last summer. Here's a new video I've uploaded to YouTube of some girls from the orphanage singing acapella. It's a spontaneous song about being the best you can be – truly inspirational given their circumstances.

'Think About Me' - promotional video completed

Farsight has been working with Aneurin Bevan University Health Board to produce a promotional video for their "Think About Me" Good Care Guide initiative.

“Think About Me”: Good Care Guide is a local web based feedback system where residents and relatives can rate and review care homes.

This development has been driven by relatives of older people already living in care homes. They believe that at a time when people have to make a difficult decision about choosing a care home, they should be able to see ‘real time’ feedback from people living there (or their relatives) to help them make a choice. It’s hoped that by sharing views about care providers – from the quality of care and staff to the facilities, surroundings and of course value for money – it will help people find and choose the right care for their family.

“Think About Me”: Good Care Guide invites residents and relatives to share their experiences with other families looking for local care homes to help them make a much more informed decision.

There is a specific need for feedback from residents and family of those living in care, residential or nursing homes. Currently when older people need to make a very difficult decision there is an absence of ‘real time’ information about care homes. Working with the Good Care Guide we are launching a pilot of “Think About Me” which will allow people to find, rate and review elderly care in Gwent.
